A_MEN by Capozzoli/Cabrer

A_MEN is a multidisciplinary device where audiovisual languages intertwine and engage in dialogue with movement, oscillating between circus, text, and performance. A_MEN is the contradictory and clownesque confession of a woman raised amidst Catholicism and the disco-dance culture of the ’90s. She inhabits a “feminine” body upon which the geometries of what a “woman” should be are imprinted. A_MEN deconstructs, piece by piece, the normative conditioning that a body may come to embody, unleashing a sinful cry of self-determination that extends far beyond the dramatic confines of Catholicism. It becomes a pagan liturgy, a profession of infidelity from a body that exposes itself along with its boundaries, scars, and struggles.
