Alexandre Kiran Cabrer Manning

I am a multimedia audio-visual digital artist (Performer, Song-writer, Engineer), bringing together disparate disciplines to create participatory experiences. My practice merges hardware and software to produce interactive devices, hypnotic musical atmospheres, and philosophically-minded visual art.

At the core of my work is a fascination with sound and technology. With beginnings in percussion, I started experimenting early on with computer-based production techniques like binaural audio, ambisonics, and multichannel sound. This musical background laid the groundwork for my current intermedia approach. During 2014-2019 while working with Dolby, I led efforts to qualify Dolby Atmos projects, giving me a valuable perspective into dimensional sound’s emergence in the technological industry. .

In the years since, my interests have expanded across several realms critical to my art today, cultivating skills in sound design, lighting design, bass playing, electronics, software programming, and building interactive sculptures and devices. Integral to everything is a conceptual drive focused on contemporary philosophy and politics, leading me to pursue a master’s degree investigating present-day theories of subjectivity, technology, ecology and aesthetics.

My creative process involves bringing these myriad elements into collision and finding the poetry in their friction. Musical compositions and textural soundscapes emerge from improvisation and experimentation with contemporary electronics. Field recordings, microsounds, sampled snippets of analog instruments, and synthetic tones fuse into hypnotic journeys through sound.

Through audio, lighting, and interactive devices, I seek to probe relationships between humans, technology, and the spaces within which they co-exist.
